There are a number of ways that you can get involved in the nationally recognized Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival!

Volunteer: Get involved! You can enjoy the spirit of community and meet new friends while volunteering.  If you would like to volunteer, call the Douglas County Museum of History and Art, 678 449 3939 for positions available.

Scarecrow Exhibit: Build a scarecrow for the Scarecrow exhibit located in the master gardener’s vegetable garden.  Contact Beverly Smith bevbsmith@yahoo.com for details.

Decorate for a chance to win prizes: Get in the spirit and decorate your home and business for the 10th annual Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival!  We expect many visitors to attend the various events that are planned.  We are encouraging residents and businesses to decorate their mailboxes, lampposts, gates, fences, trees, signs and doorways in colorful hydrangea blossoms, ribbons, and items to celebrate the festival and welcome visitors to our city and county.  We are also encouraging everyone to plant hydrangea  plants in their landscape to be enjoyed for years to come.   The dates for this  year’s festival are Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3. This year’s hydrangea is Cityline featuring:  Cityline Paris, Cityline Rio, Cityline Venice, Cityline Vienna, Cityline Berlin and Cityline Mars.

The Festival  Steering Committee and Keep Douglasville Beautiful will be judging your results.  If you want to have    your efforts judged, take a picture of your display, put “Hydrangea Contest” in subject line, and email  them along with your name, address, and phone number to: info@keepdouglasvillebeautiful.org Remember, all entries must be received on or before Tuesday, May 29, 2018.  Awards will be given to  the entries judged most outstanding and will include 2 tickets to the Daytime Garden Tours and other  goodies!  Winning entries will be contacted before the festival.  Entries are open to all Douglas County,  Georgia residents and businesses.

Miniature Garden Exhibit: Create your own miniature garden (fairy garden) to be on exhibit at the Douglas County Museum of History and Art, 6754 Broad Street in downtown Douglasville.  Contact linda2742@comcast.net for more information. 

Future Gardens: If you have a garden or know of someone who has a garden that might be a possibility for future garden tours, contact the Douglas County Museum Of History and Art, 678 449 3939.  Beautiful gardens are always needed.
